Sir,
I am very new to LINUX. Kindly tell me how
to record audio from Line-in source. I have
enabled the mixer and also enabled the
line-in recording feature. Please tell me
step by step as i am very new to LINUX. If
anything has to be done through Konsole
then please give me the steps. I tried to
use KRec. It doesnt show the level meter.
Thanks in advance

I use either gramofile or audacity to record sound. What level mixer are you using, alsamixer, aumix, rexima etc?!?

Rather than compiling and installing from source try an RPM file instead:
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/MandrakeCooker/cooker/i586/media/main/audacity-1.2.3-4mdk.i586.rpm

Mandrake is RPM based, so if you are given a choice of what to download go for that. You can install it either by double-clicking on it or running the following as root:
# rpm -ivh /path/to/package.rpm

In kmix just make sure that you have selected the input channel with the little red dot as well as turning up the volume and capture channel.
