is there any linux distribution faster as DOS?
i wanna "set up" some old computer fro a few things, ..so far i forget about using windows98 there cus i haven´t patiente to wait and wait.. (computer gets slow), .. however DOS work pretty good, loads fast , and theres some aplications i can work it just fine. but i was just wondering if in Linux world we can find some distribution that can work like DOS works for older machines , fast.. and probably im just wondering this cus maybe linux as some more software availeble than DOS , cus im working good on that pc with , im suprised..

There probably isn't a linux distro faster than DOS. How much RAM and how big a Hard Drive do you have?

give DSL a closer look:
"Damn Small Linux is a business card size (50MB) Live CD Linux distribution. Despite its minuscule size it strives to have a functional and easy to use desktop. Damn Small Linux has a nearly complete desktop, including XMMS (MP3, and MPEG), FTP client, links-hacked web browser, spreadsheet, email, spellcheck (US English), a word-processor, three editors (Nedit, nVi, Zile [emacs clone]), Xpdf, Worker (file manager), Naim (AIM, ICQ, IRC), VNCviwer, SSH/SCP server and client, DHCP client, PPP, PPPoE, a web server, calculator, Fluxbox window manager, system monitoring apps, USB support, and soon it will have PCMCIA support as well. If you like Damn Small Linux you can install it on your hard drive. Because all the applications are small and light it makes a very good choice for older hardware."
- Run light enough to power a 486DX with 16MB of Ram
- Run fully in RAM with as little as 128MB (you will be amazed at how fast your computer can be!)http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/
Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'
