Yes you can (i.e. acting as if it is an NT PDC not a Win2000 DC yet)

The best way to find how to do this is to look through the documentation at samba.org

I found a tutorial that steps you through everything.
Check out the IBM website here.

Sign up for the tutorial, and then download it as a pdf file.
This is the document I used to set up Redhat 7.3 as a PDC and it worked flawlessly.
