Was hoping someone may give me ideas as to how to solve this problem. I have a setup where I have a linux (RED HAT 9) server with samba acting as a Primary Domain controller and file server for 5 XP computers on my company network that has T1 internet connection.
I also have another XP computer that has to connect solely to the Linux box but not the internet, it has the limitation that I cannot run a virus scanner or a firewall due to the nature of it's use so connection to the internet is NOT desirable and isolation from the other XP computers is also needed.
I have thought about setting up a second network card in the linux box and conneting the XP to it. Will this work and how can it be done, will sambe allow this as well?
Thanks for any help

You can add a second IP address to the Linux box (on the same nic - no need for a second) on a private class C network. Assign the XP box an address on the same network. Assuming the XP's address won't be changed - by a miscreant user trying to get out to the Internet, for example - this will give the XP box access to the Linux box, but not the T1 or the other XP computers. This isn't really secure, but it's secure enough for your needs as long as nobody on your network will be actively trying to circumvent it.
A more secure way to do it would be to install a second nic in the Linux box. That will be a bit more secure, as the XP box will have no physical route to the T1 no matter what settings are changed on it.
