Subject: Linpus 9.5 Installation Problem
OS: Linpus 9.5
CPU/Ram: Pentium 4 / 2 GB
Model/Manufacturer: Dell
Comment:

I am trying to install Linpus 9.5 off of a DVD I burned. The DVD boots to the install screen, where the options to install Linpus or boot from the HDD are displayed. However, I can not move the selector to choose option 2 (to install the OS). "Boot from Disk" stays highlighted, a 20 second countdown timer finishes, and it boots back into Windows. The keyboard functions properly everywhere, such as in BIOS or in Windows installations or in Windows itself. Why is it hanging at the Linpus install screen?

A few questions come to mind here, first,
did you check the md5sum for the iso image
you downloaded (If the image was corrupted
during download, you may still be able to
boot the CD, but other parts of the disk
may not work correctly)? Second, if the
image passes the md5sum check, did you burn
the disk too fast (I always make it a
practice to burn images at no more than
half the rated speed of either the disk or
the burner - whichever is slowest)? If the
disk was burned too fast, file corruption
can occur, although the disk usually proves
to be unusable. Third, is it possible the
disk has a flaw?

After ruling out any of the above, check to
see if there is a readme document on the
CD. If so it may contain information that
may prove helpful. Alternatively, check on
the distribution's WEB site for a user
forum or mailing list.

Did you try Arrow up arrow down or tab key? Might even have to use the keypad arrows.

Do you have the default keyboard for that distro?

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10
