Is there a way to create the lilo.conf file from command line? I can't manage to do that.

Yes. su to root, or use the sudo command and open the text editor of your choice. Enter the lilo configuration information, then save the file as lilo.conf in the /etc folder.
If you do not have a cli text editor (such as vi, pico, etc., you may want to install Midnight Commander (a CLI utility similar to Norton Commander) which includes a text editor. To determine what to put into your lilo.conf file, execute:
man lilo.conf

I know in dos it is copy con filename then enter.
I'll have to keep looking for a way to use a command in a shell then type to input. Pretty sure control z isn't end of file. I think !D is or some other.
