Comment:

When I start my computer I need to log onto the LAN to start using my internet connection at my apartment, which I believe would be because the LAN uses NAT or PAT or something to give residents their IP addresses. This works fine with WinME, however during installation of and while using Debian, I have never needed to log in, I have just always seemed to already have a connection. The packet I received from the office about using the LAN assumes everyone is using Windows or Mac's and says nothing about Linux or any other OS. Anyone know why I don't need to log in with Debian? Debian says it's using DHCP. Thanks, Josh
