I have had good practise though took long time to get them working at base level. I'm talking about installing apache 2, php 5.01 and mysql 4.0.24 in my windows environment.
I would like to try all these at Linux environment now, after all if i host any test applications i would want them running in linux.
so my question is anyone knows good link or suggestion on installing lamp for my fedora 2 version. I only hope i face far fewer problems than before.
Would like just some tips before startin it this weekend. Thanks in advance.

I haven't used fedora but it should be as simple as selecting apache, mysql and php during installation as I'm sure they all come with the distro. The problems you encountered were probably windoze based (should be called WAMP and not LAMP!) as the core components are really designed for *nix systems.

I would take XAMPP. It is very easy to deploy (just a matter of extracting the package into a folder and execute the run script). It has also many moduls "pre-installed" like pear.

I agree that XAMPP is a good way to get started. For a long time, I had trouble getting mysql to get installed, or not properly installed, so I decided that I was more concerned with learning to use the AMP and I googled for a prebuilt installer. Most had older version of Apache or PHP, but XAMPP is pretty up to date. Also, the install is just download, extract, /opt/lampp/lampp start
The only issue I've had with it is that the mail function isn't working. Aside from that, give it a try.
