Knoppix was designed to be run as a Live CD, not installed on the HDD. Apparently it can be done but it's not recommended. It's based on Debian (so is Ubuntu) so if a HDD install is what you need/want, you might wanna try one of them instead. Personally, I'm a fan of Linux Mint which is based on Ubuntu. It's been said that Linux Mint is "the Ubuntu that should have been".

I assume you mean install to mean boot to cd.

My guess is you need a "switch" at boot time. I think there are a few types of cd's that need a comment like no atapi or no something. Maybe no mitsu or brand name.

Also some older laptops do not do well with burned cd's.

Best is to test the cd on another system just to be sure it is a good cd. I think there is even a way to test it. Not sure.

See the cheat codes or cheat sheet (something like that) It might be a text file that you can view from windows on the knoppix cd. Might have to see it online.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

You're probably right. The word "install" threw me off.

My guess is we will never know. Don't know how many times people post and never tell us we did good or bad.
