just installed knoppix to hd an dused apt-get update... and allready several repositories came up obsolet where and how do i keep the repository list curent???

Hi there how do you install knoppix?------as I have been given to understand knoppix is a live cd distro and not meant to be installed ------ here I have knoppix 3.2 can it be installed or is installation a feature of only knoppix 3.3?------and what is the version that you have been able to install. As I like the look of knoppix I would also like to make an install of knoppix.

root terminal (not normal term) sudo knx-hdinstall (works since 3.1) theres a more user friendly version than that one but i dont remmeber the command
or at the boot prompt new cheat codes for 3.3 are to load cdrom image completly to ram or hd and load
also has feature called persistant home meaning whenever you reboot your settigns or files are saved on disket cdrw or some other medium....

Yes, you can install Knoppix on your harddrive and it works since I can't even remember when!!! After you boot up Knoppix CD, switch to another console and log in as root. Then run "/usr/local/bin/knx-hdinstall" and answer a few questions and that's it... You now have Knoppix (or Debian) on your harddrive!!! You can then use "apt-get" to update your system for the latest packages.
Summary: I found a knoppix 3.3 cd and booted up with it to see how linux looks like cuz i tried installing mandrake 7.2 but cant seem to get it to KDE graphical mode. Anyway what would u say u could do on knop...

Summary: I have just downloaded Knoppix from the web (all 701 mb of it) as the ISO file and have copied it onto a CD. how do I now install this as an operating system on my p166 system? I cannot boot from CD ...
