Well trying to install Java so I can use Limewire and it doesnt seem to work. I have installed Java Versions 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 and they all say the same thing when I try to installed Limewire- You need to upgrade your version. The Limewire I have requires Version 1.4.2 the same version I have, also when I use the command in Terminal: java -version It says error no such file. Linux shows Java installed, I can open the file javaws and thats about it.

If you installed using the GUI or the 'yum' command line, and there were no errors, it should be in your PATH.

How did you run these 'installs'?

What is the output of:

locate java|grep bin

Can you login as root (or su to root) and find it?

Why not just download the JRE from Sun and install it?
