Depends on what you use you computer for. If you are a gamer then you are probably better off with windoze. I wouldn't say that linspire is the best linux distro around, why not try a live CD like knoppix which you can boot straight from the disc without having to install, it will give you a taster to see if you like GNU/Linux. You can download most distros from http://www.linuxiso.org/

Wine / WineX / Cedega is easy to install.
And plays over 300 games (including Planetside / Counter Strike)
I've never used linspire, but paying for linux defeats the purpose of linux. Use ubuntu linux, it's easy to use and detects most hardware on set up.
