Is it safe to change to ResierFS?

I am using a system with Gentoo. I am used to only using ext2 and ext3 in Gentoo. Is it safe to switch either the root partition or the boot to resierfs? Also what will I gain? I love Gentoo just the way it is. What will I gain? Does it even make any sense to change?

On a 166 it makes little sense to change because reiserFS (and reiser4) offer better performance by using more CPU power than ext2/3. Your 166 probably doesn't have the CPU power to spare.
Also, I use ext2 for /boot because it's not usually mounted so there's no need to waste space on a journal. My /boot is only ~10Mb.
