I run a Halflife dedicated game server on Redhat Linux 7.0. After a few days of running I see this message pop-up on the screen. What does it mean? Is someone trying to hack my box?

It gives me the error "IP_MASQ: reverse ICMP: failed checksum from ", where the is a valid address.

Please help me with anything you know about this and thanx so much!!!

I'm running a Quake3 server on a "machine".

I believe you get this error when someone is sending spoofed packets to your machine- i.e. you are being scanned by a hacker or most likely a script kiddie. A hacker ought to have the skill to recompute the checksum when spoofing an address in a datagram packet. A script kiddie likely does not.

There's not much you can do to prevent a scan. Just make sure you aren't running that has a security hole, because the scanning is an indication that someone is looking for those security holes.
