Comment:

on boot, when "Determining IP information for eth0" it fails, and says the to check cable. The cable is fine, it works on my WinXP System. I'm trying to connected to my school's LAN. I can not manually enter the gateway/IP adress and such, because they are obtained automatically. My ethernet card is being recognized, 3Com 3c90x. Someone plz help me.

don't use redhat but it sounds like a config problem .... is your nic set with a static ip for a home network or set up for dchp?

Try reading the official manuals available at redhat regarding network. or if you want quick reference :
Type "redhat-config-network" in Graphical user mode
Select your ethernet card (most probably eth0) in device tab.
then select "automatically obtain IP address" or "DHCP" option (find that out)
I hope it will surely work. give out a positive or negative comment, I will appreciate that.
