I can't seem to get my wireless card to connect (or even show up for that matter) when running unbuntu. Do I need to download a driver or something to make this work? Thanks in advance I really appreciate any help.

While I'm here I also can't seem to access my external drive either, which is strange to me since I installed unbuntu on the external. Any ideas? Thanks again.

Do you know anything about your wireless card? Make, model, chipset?

Open a terminal and input the command: lspci

What do you get?

I'm not able to get to my computer right now, but I'll tell you what I can.

The computer is a Dell Inspiration laptop with a built-in wireless card (don't know info), which I usually use to connect to a router (2wire is the brand I think) that is plugged into cable internet.

I haven't really tried anything to get it working yet, being a first time linux user I thought I would get help to avoid causing any damage. All I know is I can't access the internet.

Any idea about the external? I would like to now what's going on with that as well. Thanks a lot.

Thanks jefro looks like that should be all the information I need, and I guess I can always come back if I have specific questions.
