Hi everyone,

As a new user of Linux I am really enjoying learning it. I have installed red hat 9 and everything seems to work pretty fine except the internal 56K US Robotics modem. I could not make it work. I would be very grateful if anyone of you can help me with this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Which internal 56K US Robotics modem do you have? You have to be more specific.

For instance I have a US Robotics Performance Pro Model 5610 modem which is a hardware PCI modem. I can verify this by typing the command:
cat /proc/pci | grep -e Robotics
I get the following response:
Serial controller: US Robotics/3Com 56K FaxModem Model 5610 (rev 1).

Thank you for your quick suggestion. I have pci 56k us robotics modem, in windows 2000 it shows US Robotics 56K Voice Host Int. I tried supplying the above command but it does not show anything. Please help me to set it up.

Try just 'cat /proc/pci' Then look for your modem in there. The 'grep' part was for just showing the line that has the word 'Robotics' in it

Thank you! It shows a number of list saying that PCI devices found. I think the one related to the installed modem is below.

Bus 1, Device 3, function 0:
Communication Controller: PCI device 14f1:2f12 (Conexant) (rev 1).
IRQ 5
Master Capable. Latency=32
Non-Prefetchable 32 bit memory at
0xff8e0000 [0xff8effff]
I/O at 0xdc00 [0xdc07]

It shows as Conexant, right? But my modem is US robotics and the model is USR263094.

Please let me know further.
