hello~! has any body faced the driver issue for Intel 845, while running RH 8.0 ?????.... if you have successfully solved ur problem then please help me...... I am new to unix/linux so i am not much fimiliar with the commands and other techniques..... thank you!

1) suggest you search for 'intel 845 video' 2) it still dosent work well, and only in 8bit color at 1024x768 or (maybe) some higher bit at 640x480. 3) the driver picked by rh8 for the 845 dosent seem to work. choose vesa 16mb not i810 16mb 4) wait patiently for xfree86 4.3 supposably it will work then..... 5) anyone know if the 845 works in high colour in *any* distro? or have any other trips/tricks

a good solution is to read the intel information (as i diddnt)... set the bios to have the video frame buffer to 8mb (not the 1mb default)

I too am trying to install RH 8.0 (Redhat 8.0 Redhat 8) on a machine with Intel 845 graphics chips (Intel D845GLLY motherboard), and having all kinds of awful X problems. My XFree86Config says the driver it's using is "i810". Is there something else to use?
