What programs are there that can be used in Linux for Instant Messaging, I know there is pidgin but I am running Lucid Puppy 5.0.1 and pidgin doesn't work I click on it and it never loads up, Also I need to connect with Yahoo Messenger some how from Linux if that is possible. Then I may need a .pet or Slackware compatible package.

Pidgin supports AIM, Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc...all the major chat/messengers. I suggest you try to find a fix for it.

Yeah that looks like the only real option other than you can access yahoo messenger through your email with firefox.

If you use the KDE DE, you can try Kopete which supports most IM services.
