Hi everybody !
First I've got windows XP installed on my PC. My disk is partioning like this :
one partition for Windows XP 12 Go ( NTFS System )
one partition for Linux ( 8 Go )After installing Linux Red Hat 7.1, I cannot boot to Windows XP. The only choice I have is Linux. During the installation, Linux never asked to install Lilo.
What can I do now to be able to boot on both system ? Do I have to format all my disk and re-install Linux and Windows ? Why does linux never asked me to install Lilo ?
Thank you
Patrice

You must have lilo installed otherwise how are you booting into linux??? (grub??
assuming you have lilo, edit /etc/lilo.conf with root access and at the end of the file add
other = /dev/hda1 #The windows XP partition
label = Windows XP
table = /dev/hdaWhere /dev/hda1 is the partition of your XP
(hda1 = 1st partition - not if XP lives in a extended partition the numbering will be offset)need more info to give better solution

Hi Patrice,
I have Windows XP on my system. I want to install Windows XP and Linux on the same Hard drive. How did you do the partition on windows XP?
Thanks
Amit

Hi:
I used Partition Magic to carve-up my hard Drive. It initially only
had Windows XP(Home). I installed Linux in the new partition.I fllowed all the instructions to make sure I have an option of both
Linux and XP on the HD.But when I boot up, it only gives me the option to boot up to inux and
not a choice of Windows XP and Linux.I installed grup.Why is this so? Is there a way that I can still access the XP? I
desperately need information stored there. Thanks. Janet
