Currently I own a compaq presario with 10 gigs of hardrive space and have Win Me running. I am trying to get linux mandrake 8.0 on my computer also. I plan on repartitioning my HD with the Linux cd, it has a built in function. I have read all the install files and have tried everything nothing will get the autorun.exe file to run in dos. It says in dos that the autorun.exe file can only be run in win32. This is exactly what the installation instructions have told me to do and its not working. Also the install intstructions say that the cd should auto boot when i turn on my computer, nothing..it sits there with a blinking curser and does nothing...what do i do...it so frustrating...also this is a iso file burned onto a cd rom..that may be the case but ive never had any problems b4...i have no Idea and im hoping that one of you know it alls out there can help...I would appreciate any input as i want to get started on linux asap..thanks

Make a boot disk. Boot your Win Me OS and enter in the dosutils directory there should be a program called rawwrite.exe or a windows version of it. With that program copy the image file cdrom.img which is in the images directory on the CD onto a floppy.
Insert the floppy and the CD and start boot from the floppy which will start the install process.

Ive tried that. I use the boot disk which was made from the cdrom.img file and then boot and then restart with both cd rom in drive and bootdisk. Except when i restart the system boots to a black screen that says: "Linux......blah..blah blah. made bye some dude..." And it just sits there and I cant press any keys to get out nor does it progress anywhere...
