hello, i installed red hat thinking it wouldnt hard, but im totaly new, never used it before, were do i type in the codes to install a program? a screan show would be awsome.

Well, if I understand you correctly, then you want to get to a command prompt, a terminal. Therefore, assuming you installed Gnome (KDE is similar), then when booted into the GUI, click on the "Terminal" picture (looks like a screen or monitor) at the bottom of the screen. Then, you will have a command prompt to work with, looking something like this:
[root@localhost root]#
I'm not sure what you mean by "codes" to install a program, but Redhat has "packages" to install, and you can install them like this:
[root@localhost root]# rpm -i packagename.rpm
You may also come across something you download with an extension of tgz or tar.gz, and you would install them like this:
[root@localhost root]# tar -pzxvf program.tgz
Good luck.

I guess you read the user manual when you buy a new cell phone or a VCR.
I would do that with a new Linux installation too. There are book stores.

Well peter there arnt book stores were Iam. Im a land survayer, up in northamerica. The artic doesnt have many book stores, that have linux red hat books in it. Thanks for the info legend I got all my programs installed fine.
