installing linux from iso images

OS: winXP
CPU/Ram: 1.7GHz Celeron/128MB

ive downloaded slackware .iso image but when i write it over cd and try to install the OS it doesnt boot from the cd, is there any special consideration i need to take care of,or what is the procedure of installing from .iso images?

Make sure you write the ISO as a CD image, not a file on the CD. Also, make sure the BIOS is set to boot from CD first.
