Comment:

i recently installed Redhat 9, it installed perfectly, i even signed on, and was on it. then i shut my computer down. when i turn it back on, it doesnt just open redhat, it stars looking for a bootdisk, and so i put the redhat bootdisk in, and it aks something about starting from /something/hda2 so i juts push enter to start it, and it doesnt let me. so, i just thought i would re-install, so i set my bootdevice to boot from cd-rom and then it comes up with the first installation screen, and when i hit enter it says: uncompressing linux, crc error, halting system, and then i just stays on the screen. i put a fdisk bootdisk on there, to delete everything off, but it doesnt load what's on the bootdisk. i dont know what to do. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to say here... You installed it and it ran fine until you rebooted your RedHat Linux 9.0! Then, the whole thing went to hell after that! During the installation process, did you go ahead and installed any bootloader at all: grub or lilo? Also, did you created a bootable floppy disk when it asked you to. I don't know why it wouldn't let you boot from the first CD because you can run a rescue mode from it to fix your system, installing a bootloader if you have to.
