I'm trying to install Redhat Linux 7 on a brand new IBM Deskstar 15G; ABit Be6-II with Highpoint Controller (HP366; checks out on hardware list). The last message that I get is from the Linux installation program is:
No drives Found An Error has occurred - no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems. Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem.
This machine works fine. I have swappable hard drives and run a Windows ME disk already. Any clue-ins would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is the HPT 366 controller. I have the same problem with an Abit BP6 MB. The controller needs to have device drivers installed during the setup program as if it were a scsi controller. Windows sees it as a scsi device as well. I cant seem to find plain controller drivers to put on a floppy so I can install during setup. Abit gentus, a version of RedHat6.0, has the drivers embedded. I just need to figure out how to extract them on to a floppy.
