You have to burn it as an iso / image. Nero has that capability. Just out of curiosity, why Ubuntu? Nothing wrong with it but you might find Mepis more to your liking. Just a thought. Good Luck.

What was wrong with orbital's reply? I was about the write the same thing.

Download the ISO file, burn it to CD, then boot off it. You can run Ubuntu directly from the CD to get a feel for it. If you want to actually install it, there'll be a icon on Ubuntu desktop. Just double click on it & enter the info that it asks for. It should take roughly 30 min to install.

It was not a smart reply, I was asking why you had not read the instructions which answered your queery. Why should I or anyone else write out the page for you here ?

You were trying to be smart by disecting an ISO image with WinRAR....not me!

Why do you think that ubuntu will work on that old of a machine? While the processor may be supported I doubt you will find a gnome distro that works very well on 96meg.

Consider puppy or dsl. (those are other distro's of linux)

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

I should have restated that better.

I suspect that a gnome distro on a 350MHz with 96 meg ram may not be a very fast installation. I have never tried it so I really can't prove my guess.

If the system can boot to a CD (be warned that old system may not read burned CD's too) then you create a CD from an ISO with a "burning"
application. There are free solutions and demo's too.

If the system can't boot to a cd then you'd need a floppy. Ubuntu may or may not offer a way to bypass the cd with a network install. They should have a way to make a boot floppy that starts the machine to a basic linux OS. The modern linux is almost too much to get on a floppy too. You might need 3 or more to get to a command line.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
