Install sound driver in redhat9

hi with so little information you specified, I must suggest that you go to the www.alsa-project.org, and look under SoundCards for your exact soundcard model for instructions. perhaps that helps. so long.

Does kudzu detect it? What chip model from C-Media is it? All of them work great with ALSA...

it is CM8738 and it is detected by the audio device wezard but when I click on the play test sound the mouse freeze and also my screen freez and i have to reboot .

Try the alsa drivers - alsaproject.org. You can download rpms if you don't want to compile.
Or you can switch to Linux 2.6 which already has ALSA as the default.
