Install Linux from another PC ?

I had two PCs connected to each other through switch. one of the PCs have CD-Rom drive and the other don't have. so the PC without the CD-Rom drive need to install linux. is it possible to install linux through the network and access the CD-Rom drive of the other PC.
if i don't install from network, once i remove the CD-Rom drive from the PC, i can't boot in to linux again. if like this how can i boot it? can anyboy help me?

Yes, use NFS for your shared cd-rom. What distribution are you using? Nfs installs are a little tricky, write back if you run into trouble.

This is what I also want to do to add an old 486 donated by a friend to my network. But I have a problem: I have set up NFS according to the NFS-HOWTO but when I try to mount the exported cdrom (either on the same machine or another on the network) I get the message "RPC timed out". I also tried exporting a dir on my hard drive but mounting it gives the same message. Does anyone know why it does that and how to fix it?
