I'm about to install "Damn Small Linux" on a very, VERY old laptop that doesn't have CD-ROM or USB, only serial and parallel ports.
What's the easiest way to install from my XP desktop computer or is there another way?

The only thing I can think of is a pcmcia to usb card.
Nothing's broken until you choose not to fix it.

How about a floppy? How much ram & hard drive space do you have?
I did it on an IBM 701C ("butterfly") as follows: 1. removed the hard drive from laptop (call this "LHD") 2. purchased a 2.5" Hard Drive to 3.5" IDE Hard Drive Adapter (about $6) 3. used this to connect LHD to my desktop - in place of CD since I have 3 HDs. 4. installed linux on LHD in my deskop 5. I did NOT do this: installed boot loader on LHD 6. put LHD back in laptop
My laptop has a floppy. In place of 5, I used toms "linux on a floppy" www.toms.net/rb/ to install the bootloader from the laptop.
BTW, I installed a larger drive on the laptop.
