Cannot install new kernel updates as /boot size (50 MB) is insufficient. How to increase/recreate it? next on sda is swap (1GB) not so skilled on this... Thank you for any advice!

Try using GNU parted. I think it is very useful for this kind of thing. man parted Should tell you what you need. ( E.g you could search for resize )

Something tells me you are not attempting to update your kernel correctly. My /boot is way to large at 13MB; My kernel and grub files are only using 2.3mb of it.
Perhaps a better description of your problem, including the name and size of the files you are trying to update would help.

I'm using rhn. Today it gave me this message: "RPM package conflict error. The message was: Test install failed because of package conflicts: installing package kernel-2.4.9-e.25 needs 5Mb on the /boot filesystem" and I have: /dev/sda1 54416 51942 0 100% /boot But you're right: the /boot partition is kind of an archive now: module-info-, System.map- and the valinuz- with walinux-, each in 5 pairs - single and smp! well, no warnings while updating, about cleaning /boot... Many Thanks!
