and in linux i cat play mp3 , video files
dat ,avi my sound card detect properly
i play my audio cd properly in lunix

Get a different distro like Mandrake, Red
Hat dose not have multimedia support
because of legal issues.

Don't listen do that guy, Andrew3, since he knows nothing about Linux... (If you don't believe me, just scroll down and check out his posts!)
1. If you want to mount your Windows XP which is an NTFS filesystem, you need to download a module for your kernel. You can get it at http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net. Download the rpm file for RedHat Linux 9.0 (check for your kernel version but I believe it is 2.4.20. If not sure, type "uname -a" at the prompt to see exactly which version you have on your system.) and install it like (as root)
rpm -ivh filename.rpm
2. If you want to listen to your mp3 and so on, head over to http://www.xmms.org and download the latest version of xmms (1.2.8 while RedHat Linux 9.0 comes with 1.2.7) in rpm again for your system. This time, upgrade it as
rpm -Uvh xmms-1.2.8.rpm
Now, you can mount and access (as root and in read-only) your NTFS and listen to all your mp3 in RedHat Linux 9.0...

FYI the linux 2.6.0 kernel now has limited support for writing to NTFS. In the 2.4 and earlier versions, reading was OK but writing could corrupt your data (I never had a problem with it but never really used it, unfortunately my mate lost a partition!). Now with the new 2.6 kernel safe writing is possible but you are restricted to overwriting files without changing the file length....not all that useful if you ask me!=o)

Yep i think tarus is correct
if u can search for new mp3 player or linux on www.mpg123.com and compile it it will work finemounting file system u need to know what is the filesystem XP has and in which partion ur hard disk is
u can try these command after making a directory for c drive(let's name it c)# mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/c
or
# mount /dev/hda1 'destination folder'it may help
