Don't download software and then use the Archive Manager. Where possible use a Package Manager to automatically download and install.(Use Synaptic?) Have a look at http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/in... Download the Linux Starter Pack from http://www.tuxradar.com/linuxstarte...

Thank u very much for ur reply Arochester!
Well I have started to use the synaptic package manager for most of my downloads & installations.
But can the softwares like Adobe flash player be installed through Synaptic package manager?
Please give me a solution.
because this problem is not only with Flash player, but the other S/W installations like Seamonkey

IIRC, Ubuntu has a default software manager (I do not use Ubuntu here and I do not know what it is named) located in the System menu. When you open it, you can get to a screen listing the Ubuntu repositories. Those that are grayed out are disabled. You can enable the ones you want to be able to access. There are a few with World in the name. These are the repositories that include proprietary software packaged for use with Ubuntu. If you enable these repositories, you should be able to install the software you need using the default Ubuntu Software Package Manager.

If you have enabled the correct repositories adobe-flashplugin should be available . It appears under World Wide Web. Try a search in Synaptic for it.

Most applications you will need are in your package manager. To keep your system stable (with any Linux distro), stay within the offered software. It is simple and self installing. Good Luck!

Ubuntu gives you a number of options Add/remove programs that leverages Synaptic or use Apt-get if your familiar with the commmand line. Failing that theres always a precompiled .deb file as its built on Debian.

To get the Adobe flash-plugin you need to install the program: ubuntu-restricted-extras . That will download a few useful things including the flash-plugin.
