could boot into single mode if you havn't locked it out in /etc/inittab

When de computer lilo prompt apears, pres shift and write
linux init=/bin/sh

could work

You could boot a floppy based distro, mount your filesystem, and change the password.

If you still need an answer, email me and I'll send you full details of how to make a seriously sneaky boot disk that will boot not only your system but everyone else's as well.
