IceWM icon troubles

I'm kinda newbie-ish with linux, but I decided to give it a go on an old machine. I use debian Sarge, and installed IceWM with Iceme (to configure IceWM. I've installed the package wm-icons and I want to make some nice iconized links in the startup menu. However, it keeps saying "no icons found". How do I tell the thing where it can find them? I'd appreciate rather detailed instructions, since I've only used linux for less than a week now. Also, how can I make desktop icons?
