Hi
Does anyone have Redhat 8 and is willing to install IBM v8 Personal Edition or
have gotten Db2 V8 PE installed on Redhat 8 AND got it working?

I followed the install install instruction
it says do this, do that, check if it works
but failed to mention what to do if it didnt - it just assumed that it would.

well basically when i try to make a sample database it says "The database manager shared memory set cannot be allocated"

I've got 512MB RAM and 510 swap - the requirement was 128MB
got 10GB free HDD space

i'm asking the same thing in some DB forums but they're quite arrogant and expect me to be as competent as a DB admin - if i was - i wouldnt be asking.

Intel P4 2.6 @ 3.2
1GHz FSB
Asus P4P800
2x256 Kingston DDR400
--->ATi Radeon 9800Pro 128MB<---

You probably haven't set kernel shared memory.

The information you need is in this link:
