Nope, you need supposrt hardware, and for sure your win(soft)modem is not.

Not too sure about the soundcard, but definite on the modem.

You will need to purchase/get a true modem, one way to tell is that it will function in DOS or other OS's than Windows.

you might either try sndconfig, insmod (all in /lib/modules/linux/sound (in other words all the sound modules), or you could find a computer junk sale and for about $5 (around here) get an ISA sound card that works just fine. (I have an opl3 that works just fine ($3))

I guess they're inexistant, but i've heard of some tricks, maybe, to make my PCI winmodem (Conexant 56K) works with linux. My distribution is Mandrake 7.2. Can you help me some way ? Thanks :)
