I cannot access my C: drive

I write to you because I cannot access the information on my C: drive. What I did: I added another hard disk (Quantum FB CTL 40GB 5400rpm - two partitions FAT32) to my computer (my HDD is Quantum FB CX 6.4 GB). BIOS didn’t find it, neither did Windows 98. So I tried with Red Hat Linux 6.2. It recognized one of the partitions of the new HDD. I tried to access the other partition with LinuxConf but it crushed several times. Another thing I did: I tried to make LILO boot C: by default. The result: When I tried restarting my computer C: was inaccessible (so Windows couldn’t load) and couldn’t be detected by Linux anymore. Now when I start my computer and LILO prompts if I type ‘dos’ it prints ‘Loading DOS’, prompts again and cannot load anything (just loops). If I don’t type anything it loads Linux. When Linux is loaded it says : mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda1, or too many mounted file systems [failed]
D: is O.K. (its partition type is the same as C: ). How can I restore the data I have on C:? (pls :( )
