Huge ASCII file, please help!

Hi there,

do you know a tool which is capable to open a huge ASCII file (~900 MByte) for vieweing and then divide it (save as...) into some smaller parts? Thanks in forward.

use 'split' to split the file.
you should be able to view that file with 'less' but to edit it you need lots of ram :) try vim, emacs or joe

If you're determined to edit the file in one piece, the only editor that has a chance is Crisp. You can download a free trial version:

Many thanx so far! What about the command line tool "tail" to extract parts from files?

Might it work?
