Hi guys, I have trouble with my pc just unpacked. I have installed linux Suse 9.3, tryed with Ubuntu and Mandrake 10.2, that integrated network card is detected and all seems to be fine but when configure IP address cant ping my network :( I have tryed disconnecting it and installed other network card but it is the same :( IP's are correct, no one is using it. But If I run Windows XP on that box all network cards are working fine. Dont know what to do! I suspect that is the HP has done somthing with that new machines. Ohh Suse detects that integrated card as Intel Corporation 82562EZ 10/100 Ethernet Controller. Thanks for your help.

What errors are you getting? Are
there lights on the NIC? What is the output
of ifconfig and route? What network settings
are you using ie IP address, subnet, netmask
and gateway? Are you trying to ping via IP
or domain name? What is the contents
of /etc/resolv.conf?

I have the same problem:
- Suse 9.3 or 10 (same behavior)
- network card detected as 82562EZ
- back light up and blinking
- listed by ifconfig with rigth MacAddr, but no packet traffic

If configured with DHCP, no address is assigned, if configured with fixed IP it seems unable to connect.

I downloaded and installed last e100 driver, but no changes
MsWIn detect this card as IntelPro 10/100

I can suppose driver is wrong, or this integrated network card is not correctly detected.

Any of you has any idea?
Othrwise I will by a 15€ pci net card to solve the problem.

Thanks
Marco

Problem solved:
1) I installed Suse Linux 10.1
2) I took an old and cheap 10/100 network card. I put it inside my server and it was correctly recognized. So I was able to surf the net and to automatically update my Suse Linux.
3) after this procedure, my 82562EZ network card has started to work correctly (probably Kernel or driver were too old in suse 9.3 or 10.0 for this integrated card)
4) I remove my old 10/100 network card

No other changes required.

Bye
