Hi there!
I've got this real neat HP scsi tape device with tapes (duh).
When i type cat /dev/st0 (the tape drive),
i get about three crippled lines with carbage. So i think the drive is setup properly or else it wouldn't respins at all.Now you can guess my question....wcan someone give me a few commands or appz (console) so i can use that tape drive for backups.
At minimum i like to know hoe to format (or erase), read and write to the device.(the drive has been used in a win evironment, tapes still contain dat put on by some win-system)
(If you need to know more specs, i tell you everything (except, the root passwd ;)))
thanx!

Hi. I run several scsi tape drives at the same time.
You can do a tar -cvf /dev/st0 or dev/nst0 dirname.
You can also use cat...if I know exactly what you want to do I can let you know how.
