First of all you will probably want Fedora (which is basicly red hat 10, they just changed the name) you can get it at: http://fedora.redhat.com/ But if you really want 9 you can get it from redhat.com. To upgrade, first download the iso files for either red hat 9 or fedora, then burn them to cds, then reboot the computer with disc 1 in the cd-rom drive, then when the disc has loaded press enter to install in graphical mode, and it will ask you if you want to do a clean install or upgrade.

Have any of you guys actually done the upgrade? I'm considering doing it rather than doing a fresh install and I'm wondering if folks have run into problems.

I guess you will suceed 99% if you upgrading using cdrom.I upgrade RH6.0 to RH6.2 to RH7.1 one rpm package by one rpm package. Never meet a problem. As per my experiece, if you don't change the harddisk partitions, it is very very safe to upgrade to new version.
