How to stop kde from console

hi

i'm using kde3 and from the console i type 'startx' to get kde desktop.
how can i stop kde from the console

You could:

killall -9 X

That will kill the X server (which you started using startx) and KDE with it.
However that is not the recommended way of closing things.
Why do you want to stop KDE/X from the console?

i use console more than X, so i want to control KDE from console, like to start and stop.
