how to setup Arduino with NFC (Security)

Hi
How to setup and configure Arduino with NFC in linux machine.
I need to do this setup using swipe card or tag for employees login (Office)
i googled and found requirements.
Arduino,NFC shield , Ethernet shield and USB.
is this okay?
Give me any idea for configuration setups
waiting for suggestions.
