I have 3 partitions on my hard-disk. two are used by windows, and the 3rd is used by linux.

Reply:

Step 1:
Boot your computer with a boot floppy.

Step 2:
At the dos prompt, type fdisk /mbr. This will remove lilo.

Step 3:
Next, run fdisk, and remove the unknown partition, and replace it with a dos partition. You can then format the new partition and use it from windows.

If you have not used fdisk before, I seriously recommend you get help before trying step 3. YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR HARD DRIVES AND LOSE ALL OF YOUR DATA IF YOU SCREW UP WITH fdisk!!!!! Steps 1 and 2 are (more or less) completely safe. fdisk does not have anything in the way of online help, and is not user friendly, so be careful.
