Hi folks,

Ubuntu 8.04
Gnome

Can I run;

Application -> Sound & Video -> Sound Recorder

to record the sound/music played on the sound clips on websites. They can't be download;

If YES please shed me some light on its settings;

Volume Control: HDA NVidia (Alsa mixer) ?
Do I need to enable [Microphone] and [CD] ?

All following items have been enabled
Master
Headphone
PCM
Front
Line-in
PC Speaker

Record from input [Digital] ?
Record as [Voice, Lossless (WAV audio)] ?

Please advise. TIA

I use audacity.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Hi jefro,

Now I have audcity installed which includes audcaious.

I also installed;
ubuntustudio-audio
ubuntustudio-audio-plugins
which include many applications

But still I can't make Audcity to work.

Audcity is a nice GUI package. It has record and playback functions. However I can playback the .aup file recorded but without sound. Also it can play .wav files without sound.

Tried starting JACK Control first then clicking [start] it won't start Audcity.

I tried to configure Audcity as follow without success.

Applications -> Sound & Video -> Audcity.

Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O -> Device.

I'm not allowed selecting "JACK audio kit system".

I must select "ALSA: HDA MVidia: AD192x Digital (hw:0,1)

otherwise on clicking [Play] button it complains;

Error
Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate

Any advice. TIA
