Hi,
After a long learning curve I made the Linux-Win95 hookup and can print from Win to Linux. But somehow I cannot send pages from Linux (mandrake 7.2) to Win.
Funny thing, Linux terminal easily identifies the Win printer (smbclient -L winhost), but the Linux File Manager can't find the Win printer. Installation for the printer fails and test printing says the printer is not ready.
Can anyone tell me how to get over this baffling bottle neck?
Thanx.

It will work much better and easily if you install an LPD deamon on the win95 workstation that share this printer.

If you ever come back here, danny, it seems LPD is in there. Locate lpd brings out dozens of entries including /usr/lib/cups/daemon/cups-lpd.
Do you need a special init command to activate it?
Thanks.

I use CUPS web admin page to setup remote SMB printer.
It is easy.
You first get in the page using browser
(http://localhost:631)
and then go to Manage printer and add a new remote printer.
The steps is simple, you have to choose SMB for remote printing.
And for URI, should "smb://:@/"
Then select the filter and it is done.Note that you must have Samba running in your system and your workgroup should be same as the printer.

Sorry, I miss type the URI
it should be
"smb://{WINNT username}:{WINNT password}@{Host}/{Service}"And for the previous message, ben mean it is more simple to install a LPD on windows system. (such as: winlpd)
