I am a freshman about Linux. Does anyone know how to make a smooth crawl or image scroll on Linux? And how to make a full screen animation? It seems the animative image made by GIMP can only be display in browser, am I right? Waiting for any instruction. Thanks!

Well let us see here ...
first we need an image. then we need to view the image. oh yah it must be viewed full screen.
Kind of like xmatrix -small -root
my best guess would be to make your file for xscreensaver.
others would suggest flash, But nothing in flash will ever be as retro-cool as xsnow :)

Thanks, Kloss!
Actually the Banner in KDE Screensaver has the close effect that I want for the crawl, but it is not smooth enought. I need to use the technique of synching with the vertical retrace to avoid "retrace tearing". Do you know how to do that? Only this way, the crawl can be really smooth.
