Hi,
I have Red Hat 8, and after the initial install it powered down by itself and actually turned the computer off. One day I was working in the console and I issued a shutdown command of some kind, restarted or shut down, and since then it doesn't power off by itself anymore.

Is there a way to tell it to start doing that again?

did you build a new kernel?
ACPI support has to be anabled in the kernel to make the computer shutdown itself (no need to press the button)
