How to load lilo in MBR, and then how to set to choose the OS for booting? I have win 2000 (professional) on NTFS partition & Redhat 7.0 on the linux patition. Both are working fine independetly. I use a boot floppy to get into linux. While the system by default boots with win 2000. Your sugession will be of great help..

I also have both Win2K and Linux installed on my machine. I don't think LILO recognise NTFS so it probably wouldn't work if you install LILO on the MBR. Personally i use "bootpart" a utility that let you add boot options into Windows OS loader. It works perfectly for me. Try doing a search on any search engines or go to http://www.winimage.com/bootpart.htm.
There is a readme file with instructions in the download i think.
Good luck

I have been working with Linux for about 6 months, trying to learn how to use and what the pitfalls are. I have found that messing with my MBR is a mistake. I start my Linux OS using a boot floppy. Keep your MBR pure.

I think that statement should be rephrased to "You can make mistakes by messing with your MBR". If you do things right then there's no problem modifying your MBR. Just don't forget that you can make mistakes so make sure you have a boot disk of every OS you have installed with minimal utilities on it. That way you can always restore your MBR and try again.

Check out this site:
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/Linux+NT-Loader.html
You can use the NT loader instead. If WIN2000
or NT is your first OS, it will only work
this way.I triple boot 98SE, RH7.0 and Mandrake7.2
using lilo, because the 98 MBR allows it
whereas the NT loader hogs the MBR.Oh yeah, Create boot floppies for all OS's
and know your command line for all
