Hello:
I installed Fedora Core 2 on my Dell laptop along with Windows XP using Partition Magic.
XP was installed first, and the dual boot uses Fedora Core by default. I have several partitions on my hard disk in addition to XP and Linux (i.e. like FAT and FAT32).Now I want to replace Fedora Core with SUSE 9.3 using the partition where Fedora Core was installed and retaining the other partitions as is.
How do I do this: Like, first how do I boot from the install CDs?
thanks.
Laura

I'm assuming that right now it boots up and goes into grub right away.
if that's the case then you need to get it to boot from the cd drive first. to do this you must get into the bios, it depends on the motherboard which key you press to do this. in my experience its either f1, f2 or delete. hold this down when the computer boots, before it has a chance to load grub. if you've done it right then you should see the bios configuration screen. somewhere in the bios there should be the booting order of the drives, just move the cd drive up in the list until its the first one. then insert your cd and reboot.
suse has a graphical install, I believe. you should be fine from there on.

Suse was a good choice its a very good graphical desktop and the art and drawing facilities are strictly professional, that is if you can get it all to work!

Hey Laura, how did you set up your hard drive so both OSs can run?
I currently am running XP and would like to create another partition to run SuSE 9.3, and I have Partition Magic, I just want some advice before I go screw up my computer.
Thanks,
Tom

Same kind of question only I am trying to replace Fedora with Luit (a knoppix-ish,DSL modification with XFCE desktop)
I can boot from the CD just fine, but I want to install Luit as the only partition.
The guy over @ sarovar mentions something about just changing the grub(?). He doesn't detail how, but I think that means keeping fedora. I want it gone.
My laptop is just a wee little thing.
Is there any way to remove fedora entirely and install Luit if the Luit boot doesn't come with a partition app? (Or does it?)
